2025 AFL Draft Picks - Checklist
1. Willem Duursma
West Coast Eagles
Completing the set of Duursma siblings (4) on AFL or AFLW lists, the youngest took the honour of being the No.1 pick at the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft. The West Coast Eagles second top selection in the space of 3 Drafts is a rangy on-baller who was Vic Country’s MVP at the National Championships, won U18 All-Australian selection and was named captain of the Coates Talent League Team of the Year.
2. Zeke Uwland
Gold Coast SUNS
The first of the Gold Coast SUNS plethora of first-round Academy selections arrived at pick 2 of the Telstra AFL Draft in the form of the younger brother of SUNS defender Bodhi Uwland. A polished left footer, Uwland missed the bulk of 2025 with a stress fracture in his back but did average 16.5 disposals in 4 VFL games for the SUNS late in the season. Was an U18 All-Australian in 2024.
3. Harry Dean
Carlton
The son of dual Carlton Premiership backman Peter Dean (248 games) was regarded as the best key defender in the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft, and the Blues duly matched a bid from the West Coast Eagles at pick 3 to secure their father-son selection. A superb mark and penetrating left-foot kick, Dean was named at full-back in the U18 All-Australian side after starring for Vic Country in the National Championships.
4. Cooper Duff-Tytler
West Coast Eagles
The first ruckman taken in the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft was the second of the West Coast Eagles 2 top 10 picks. A champion basketballer who represented Australia at U16 level, once Duff-Tytler concentrated on football his star rose. Was eye-catching in the ruck and forward for Vic Metro at the National Championships and booted 3 goals in his one game at VFL level for Essendon.
5. Dylan Patterson
Gold Coast SUNS
Blisteringly quick and with an elite sidestep courtesy of his rugby league background, the Gold Coast SUNS quickly matched Richmond’s bid for their Academy product to make it 2 of the first 5 selections at the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft would be donning red, gold and blue. Patterson was picked in the U18 All-Australian team after dazzling for the Allies at the National Championships and also had VFL experience.
6. Daniel Annable
Brisbane Lions
The reigning premiers got to add the quality midfielder to their already stacked list when Richmond bid on Annable at pick 6 of the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft and the Brisbane Lions matched courtesy of his Academy status. Averaged 21.3 disposals in 8 games at VFL level last season after averaging almost 25 disposals playing for the Allies in the National Championships.
7. Sam Cumming
Richmond
Prolific midfielder who tasted SANFL senior football in the second half of 2025, playing 4 games before a shoulder injury curtailed his season. Cumming had starred as a bottom-age player in the 2024 SANFL U18’s, winning the MVP award for averaging 27 disposals with North Adelaide, and Richmond swooped by using pick 7 for him at the Telstra AFL Draft.
8. Sam Grlj
Richmond
Fast and skilful, Grlj was named in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year in 2025 in the wake of consistently excellent performances for the Oakleigh Chargers, and he was also prominent for Vic Metro in the National Championships. He played 2 VFL games for Richmond in the latter part of the season and it was the Tigers who selected him at pick 8 of the Telstra AFL Draft.
9. Sullivan Robey
Essendon
A tall and powerful on-baller and forward, Robey roared up the Telstra AFL Draft charts in the second half of 2025 with several stunning displays in the Coates Talent League. He starred in the Eastern Ranges Grand Final victory with 4 goals after destroying the Western Jets with 40 disposals and 3 majors in the Wildcard Round. Essendon grabbed him at pick 9 of the Draft.
10. Jacob Farrow
Essendon
The first West Australian taken at the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft was the classy and composed left footed backman, who Essendon named with the No.10 selection. Farrow made the U18 All-Australian team after averaging 19 disposals at the National Championships and he further caught the eye in averaging almost 18 disposals in 3 senior WAFL games for West Perth.
